Both Game World and Disc Replay buy video games, consoles, controllers, and other gaming products for cash or store credit.

Trade-in values can vary depending on the item, its condition, and how many copies the store already has in stock. Because of this, it is difficult to make a blanket statement that one store will consistently offer more than the other for every item.

However, it is important to note that Game World is independently owned and does not pay the franchise fees associated with operating a Disc Replay location. This gives us greater flexibility in deciding what we purchase and how much we can offer. Without those additional franchise expenses, we can often pass the savings on to our customers through higher trade-in values.

This is one category in which Disc Replay offers something Game World currently does not.

Game World primarily purchases video games, consoles, controllers, and related gaming hardware.

Disc Replay buys a broader range of consumer electronics, which may include televisions, speakers, Apple products, and other electronic devices.

If you are trying to sell electronics that are not related to gaming, Disc Replay may be the better option.

Pokémon Cards

Game World and Disc Replay Greenwood focus on different parts of the Pokémon Trading Card Game hobby.

Game World regularly stocks sealed Pokémon booster packs, including both English and Japanese Pokémon TCG products.

Game World does not currently purchase Pokémon cards or regularly sell individual Pokémon singles.

Disc Replay Greenwood does not regularly carry the same selection of sealed booster packs, but it does buy and sell Pokémon singles and graded cards.

Game World carries a growing selection of licensed blind boxes.

Our selection regularly includes Re-Ment products featuring popular franchises such as:

  • Pokémon

  • And more

Re-Ment blind boxes generally retail for $19.99 to $22.99. Game World also carries Holly Box products, including Sleeping Eeveelutions blind boxes.

At the time of this comparison, Disc Replay Greenwood did not carry a comparable selection of blind boxes. Inventory may differ at other Disc Replay locations.

Disc Repair and Resurfacing

Both Game World and Disc Replay Greenwood offer disc resurfacing services for scratched games and movies.

The primary difference is the equipment used at each store.

Game World locations use the ELM AutoSmart, a professional-grade disc resurfacing machine that originally retailed for approximately $7,000.

Disc Replay Greenwood uses an ELM ECO Pro, which is also a professional disc resurfacing machine.

Both machines can successfully repair many scratched discs, but we have found that the AutoSmart produces an especially clean finish and performs particularly well with certain difficult discs, including black PlayStation 1 discs.

Game World currently charges $2.99 per disc for resurfacing.

No resurfacing machine can repair every damaged disc. Cracks, deep top-side scratches, data-layer damage, and other serious defects may make a disc impossible to save.

Gashapon Machines

Want the experience of turning the knob and seeing which collectible you receive?

Game World’s Indianapolis South and Bloomington West locations have Gashapon machines featuring licensed collectibles from franchises such as Pokémon and Kirby. Additional products and franchises may be added over time.

Online Inventory Catalog

One of Game World’s biggest advantages is the ability to browse our inventory before visiting a store.

Game World maintains an online catalog containing tens of thousands of items across our three locations.

If you find something you are interested in, call the store and we can confirm that it is still available before you make the drive.

Because used inventory changes constantly, availability is not guaranteed until it has been confirmed directly with the store.

Disc Replay does not currently offer a comparable online catalog showing its local used inventory.

Game World carries a large selection of used Blu-Ray movies.
