Yes! Game World is a locally owned business with locations in Bloomington and Indianapolis.
Store Locations & Hours
Every location is open 7 days a week, with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our hours vary by each of our locations. Please reference our location page to view the hours for each of our locations.
Game World has three locations across Indiana.
West Bloomington
3289 W. 3rd St., Bloomington, IN 47404
Located on the west side of town near Planet Fitness.
East Bloomington
901 S. College Mall Rd., Bloomington, IN 47401
Located on the east side of town, just south of College Mall.
Indianapolis South
7625 Shelby St., Indianapolis, IN 46227

We are open most holidays, but all locations are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Holiday hours may vary for other holidays.
Buying & Inventory
Yes! Gift cards are available at all Game World locations and make a great gift for any gamer. We offer gift cards in $25, $50, and $100 denominations, or you can choose a custom amount.
Yes! Retro gaming is one of our specialties. We carry games and consoles from many classic systems, including Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, Sega, Atari, and more.
Yes! We regularly stock used consoles, handheld systems, controllers, and accessories.
Yes! We carry a large selection of controllers, cables, memory cards, chargers, and other gaming accessories for both modern and retro systems.
Yes! We maintain an online catalog so customers can browse our inventory. Because inventory changes frequently, we recommend calling the store to confirm availability before making a special trip.
Yes! We hold items for one day. Reservations must be made on the day the item is eligible for sale.
*Reservations are made at the store manager’s discretion. Due to high demand, we typically do not place holds on handheld Pokémon games, PSP/PS Vita consoles, PS2 consoles, or Nintendo 3DS/2DS systems.
Trade-Ins & Selling
Yes! We buy video games from every generation, including Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, Sega, Atari, and more. We offer either cash or store credit.
Yes! We regularly buy disc-based games and cartridges that are missing their original cases or boxes. Trade-in values may be slightly reduced compared to complete copies.
Yes! We buy video game consoles, handheld systems, accessories, and more!
Absolutely! We specialize in retro video games and consoles, including NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, GameCube, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and many others.
Yes! Whether you have a few games or an entire collection, we’d be happy to take a look. We can even accommodate large collections through our drop-off trade process.
Yes! We buy many DVDs and Blu-Rays. Please bring them to one of our locations for an evaluation.
We don’t currently accept the following items for trade-ins.
Comic Books
Pokemon / Yugioh / Magic the Gathering Cards: We sell new Pokemon cards at all of our locations. However we don’t accept any cards for trades-ins.
Stolen Items: We only accept trade-ins if you are the rightful owner of the merchandise.
Fake Games – We only buy and sell authentic games. An experienced team member of ours will inspect your game to confirm it is authentic during the trade-in process.
The most accurate way to receive a quote is to bring your items into one of our stores. Our team will inspect the items and provide a free, no-obligation offer.
You have to be at least 16 to sell us your items for store credit. You have to be at least 18 to sell us your items for store credit or cash.
Yes, we are required by law to check ID’s for trade-ins. You must bring a physical government issued I.D, like a driver’s license. We don’t accept temporary licenses or photos of licenses.
We usually offer about 25% more trade value if you choose store credit instead of cash. Store credit never expires and can be used towards any of our 30,000+ items in stock. You can also give your store credit to others by purchasing a gift card with your store credit. Once store credit is chosen, it can not be converted to cash.
Unfortunately, all trades are final.
No, no appointments are necessary for trade-ins. However we stop accepting trades an hour before closing.
It depends on the issue with the item. We encourage you to bring your item in for a team member to take a look at it!
We are still happy to buy your console, even if you are missing accessories for it. The trade pay-out is adjusted to reflect the value of the missing accessories.
Yes, our staff is trained to perform factory resets to remove your personal information from any consoles you decide to sell to us. In fact, we recommend not factory resetting your console before you visit, as we will have to go through the initial set-up in order to test the console.
Yes, if you have a large collection or would just prefer not to wait in the store, we would be happy to accept a drop-off for you. Once we finish processing the trade, we will give you a call with the quote. If you choose to accept our offer, we could either add store credit to your account, or have cash ready for you to pick-up. If you choose to decline your offer, we will hold your items for 14 days.
Yes! We buy items seven days a week. Trade-ins are accepted up to one hour before closing.
No. While basic cleaning is appreciated, our team will inspect and test the console as part of the trade-in process.
In most cases, yes. Once your items have been evaluated and tested, payment is issued immediately if you accept the offer.
No. Store credit does not expire.
Yes! Store credit can be used at any Game World location.
Yes, buy graded games! For higher-value games, we recommend emailing photos along with your asking price to admin@gameworldindiana.com before bringing them in.
Yes! We offer mail-in trades for customers who live more than an hour from any of our locations. We may even cover the shipping cost on trades above a certain value. Please visit our Mail-In Trade page for full details.
We are required by law to hold items for 7 days from when they are traded-in.
Returns, Warranties & Product Testing
We accept returns within 15 days of purchase. We offer store credit for returns, no cash or credit card refunds are given. If we have a replacement item in stock, we are happy to replace a defective item for a working replacement.
We do not accept returns for new games and new 1st party accessories (this includes: new Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons, new Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers, new Microsoft Xbox Series X controllers, and new Sony PlayStation 5 controllers). In the rare event you have an issue with any of these items, please contact the manufacturer for assistance.
Funko Pops, Amiibos, Pokemon Kids Figures, Disney Infinity Figures, Skylanders Figures, and all other collectible figures are sold AS-IS. No returns are accepted. Please inspect the figure prior to purchase for any defects.
No returns are accepted for any Pokemon Trading Card Booster Packs, Elite Trainer Bundles, and Booster Bundles.
We offer extended warranties for games, movies, certain accessories, and consoles. If an extended warranty is purchased, you have 90 days to return your movie, game, or accessories if they are defective. If an extended warranty is purchased, you have 6 months to return your console if it is defective. Extended warranties do not cover issues caused by user abuse (for example, you drop your console in the bathtub).
Yes! All consoles and controllers include a standard 15-day warranty.

- Under $100: $9.99
- $100–$149.99: $14.99
- $150–$199.99: $19.99

Extended warranties cover defects from normal use and do not cover accidental damage, abuse, or misuse.
Our experienced team members test all of the hardware that comes in. Due to the volume of games we receive, games are not tested. We inspect disc based games for any damage and run all of them through our professional grade disc repair machines. We meticulously clean the metal contacts of cartridge based games that come in.
Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee the prior owner of a game did not use any of the DLC codes that were originally included with the game.
Repairs & Services
We offer disc repair at all of our locations for $2.99. A few of our locations offer a select number of repairs including: Nintendo NES 72 Pin Replacement, Game Boy / Game Boy Color Cartridge Battery Replacement, Game Boy Advance Cartridge Battery Replacement, Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Joystick Replacement, and Nintendo 64 Joystick Replacement.
Yes! We offer professional disc resurfacing services at all Game World locations. It is available for only $2.99 a disc.
Yes! Our West Bloomington and Indianapolis South locations offer battery replacement services for Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridges. The cost is $9.99 per game. Drop-off is required, and repairs may take up to 7 days to complete depending on workload.
